Blurb: After fifteen years playing pro hockey, Aaron Buckley screws up, and his mistake and his attitude get him sent down to the minor leagues. His new team is in his old city, where he started his career in hockey, and also where he left his boyfriend behind. His luck hasn’t improved since joining a team of rookies and kids, but he has discovered that Zach—the ex-boyfriend who could never compete with hockey for Aaron’s love—is still in town. Aaron has a second chance to answer the same question: Zach or hockey? But maybe it’s time for a new question.
Review: This novella has a very interesting premise. I am a hockey lover and any and all books with hockey players are auto-buys for me. This is a fun new take on a typically young men trope. I liked the older, more experienced men looking back at their lives and finding an old love that could be rekindled.
Aaron is tired. He loves hockey and he is very good at it, but his career is struggling, and aside from hockey he has nothing else. His family life is a mess and his love life is non-existent.
Zach is an old flame who loved Aaron enough to let him go. Now years later he sees a man who could once again steal his heart.
I enjoyed this novella and it was written very well. This novella whet my appetite to see what else this author has out there.
