Up All Night Satisfaction

Blurb:  Five years ago, an accident fractured Gabe Cooper’s family. Believing it was broken beyond repair, Gabe and his best friend Jamie Carlson left Minnesota behind for San Diego sunshine and college. Now another crisis brings Gabe home to help his ailing father, and he finally has to face the guilt that kept him away for so long.

Scott Stark also returns to Minnesota, with his young niece and nephew in tow, shouldering new family responsibilities. While Gabe comes to grips with his past, Scott struggles to accept his present role as a substitute parent, caring for two children, each with different needs. As Gabe and Scott get to know each other, reclaiming family life almost seems possible. Only two things stand in the way of love: Gabe’s unresolved relationship with Jamie, and Scott’s plan to leave Minnesota as soon as he can. Both men will have to accept past mistakes if they want to salvage a future together, and time is running out.

Review:  I really enjoyed this story. It’s the kind of story that I rarely find anymore, where the romance while important isn’t the main focus. The kind of story where you become invested in whole families and their lives. I fell in love with these people and their journeys of healing and acceptance and becoming whole again.

Gabe is such a good man. He had an amazing example in his father, and even though things between them look bleak and are so frustrating it was a joy to watch these strong, proud men come back together. Gabe was always the protector, support and provider. I loved his sense of family, loyalty and how to be a good neighbor. He was fantastic.

Scott is such a brave and wonderful person. To take on his niece and nephew with no hesitation and so much patience and love was awe inspiring. I felt for him and his new family’s struggles to find their balance. I was so glad that they found the awesome Cooper family, who took them under their wings.

Gabe and Scott are adorable together. I fell in love with both of them, felt their exhaustion and stress, enjoyed watching them come together first as friends and then as more. I loved the entire cast of characters and was so happy with their growth and the lives that they made together.

A wonderful story of family, healing, forgiveness and love. About coming together and supporting each other. What it means to be a good neighbor and friend. The choices we make and how they can form the rest of your life. How there is always room for forgiveness, love and grace. Sometimes the hardest person to forgive is yourself.
