Blurb: Haven Marley’s having the worst December ever. Work was terrible, his car wouldn’t start… and then it gets even worse. His Christmas is awfully blue until he meets Sander Klaus. They quickly discover that when it comes to celebrating, they are total opposites: Haven hates the holidays, while Sander—a mall Santa—embraces everything about the season. Haven may be a Scrooge, but with Sander, he’ll learn more about the joys of being in the Christmas spirit than he’d ever imagined.
A story from the Dreamspinner Press 2013 Advent Calendar package “Heartwarming”.
Beans: This story was great because it took a misadventure and turned it into so much more. Haven is jaded and tired. He has a life full of work and responsibilities and joy is a mystery.
Sander knows what hard work is as well, but has found how joy can be something he can claim and then give away. I adored the heart of Sander to see more in Haven than what meets the eye. He pushes for joy. Shows compassion, and shares love.
The story read very fast for 80 pages, and I loved every minute of it.
Nina: Haven is bitter about the holidays because he feels that he has been let down and generally mistreated during that time of year. He doesn’t want anything to do with the holidays and is in the middle of having a spectacularly bad night when he meets Sander. Sweet, lovable Sander who lives and breathes Christmas spirit. Suddenly, the man who can’t stand Christmas is falling in love with all things Sander and getting back the joy and hope that exists during that special time of year.
