A Lion in Tails
Title: A Lion in Tails
Author: Andrew Grey
Length: 82 pages
Blurb: Larry Kincaid isn’t ready to be a parent, but when his sister dies in an accident, he takes his nephew, Angus, into his home. The change throws Larry’s life into limbo until he meets Joshua Langdon.
To Joshua, Larry is a lion: growly and strong, but too proud to ask for help. Joshua gets past his defenses and finds a place in Larry and Angus’s family, but Larry’s pride gets in the way. Can they turn their holiday romance into a relationship that lasts into the New Year?
A story from the Dreamspinner Press 2013 Advent Calendar package “Heartwarming”.
Beans: There is a sincerity in what Andrew Grey writes. He allows the reader to not just understand the pain, grief, sorrow, joy, and hope a character feels but to feel all of those things along side them. This is a short read, and yet I was pulled into the lives of Larry and Angus.
Joshua’s ability to empathize and respond with kindness acts like a magnet for two broken people. He is able to get past walls that were starting to get cemented in from loss. I cheered them on. I read knowing it was going to end well but never quite knowing when. It was tremendous.
Nina: Family plays such a big part in our holidays, almost every ritual and celebration centers around them. It broke my heart a little watching this small new family struggling with the pain of the loss of an essential member and trying to find happiness once again. I was impressed by the relationship and bond between Larry and Angus. I enjoyed the time I spent with them as much as I did with the developing romance between Larry and Joshua. He was just what they needed to balance them out and Larry deserved the happiness that he brought into their lives.
I enjoyed this story very much.
