Heartwarming Advent Calendar Novellas Bundle 4

When the chance came to review the novellas for the Heartwarming Advent Calendar they all looked so good that we decided to do our Nina and Beans joint reviews thing and talk about them all.  Some are longer and those get their own review space.  Some are shorter and those we are putting together into small bundles.   So bundle up, snuggle down, sip that eggnog and let’s find something great to read.

Quad Shot of Love

Blurb:  Noah hates his job at the popcorn kiosk, and finding out his original holiday plans to return home have fallen through doesn’t help make his season bright. The daily Secret Santa gifts left on the counter of the kiosk are, so far, more frustrating than cheerful. Then a clown determined to turn Noah’s frown upside-down convinces him that Christmas might not be as terrible as he’d expected.

Beans:  An adorable tale. I liked the youthful feel of this one. It worked with the kiosk and the presents. It was a fine story that anyone can have their Christmas miracle. It was short and sweet and worth the read.

Nina:  I liked this one, it was cute.  It cracked me up with the whole thin line between stalker and secret admirer.  It really is defined by receptiveness and reciprocation.  A fast and enjoyable read about holiday spirit and family.

Blurb:  Christmas is fast approaching and familial obligations are dampening Brandon Jacobs’s holiday spirit. On top of requiring his attendance at the annual neighborhood Christmas party, his mom has been bugging him to call AJ, a childhood playmate who just moved to town. Brandon’s memories of AJ as a kid aren’t exactly fond, and he’s not about to waste time on him as an adult… until he runs into AJ at the party and decides that Christmas might be the perfect time for a fresh start.

Beans:  This felt like the beginning of an amazing novel. This was a great, fun take on an enemies to lovers trope. It was fun, and bright without angst. It read incredibly quick and was delightful.

Nina:  You know how moms are always driving their kids crazy with the matchmaking and the “when are you going to settle down?” nagging? What happens when mom might actually get it right? Sometimes you can find the best things in the places and people you least expect.

ToyRunTitle:  Toy Run

Author:  Charley Descoteaux

Length:  34 pages

Up All Night Satisfaction

Up All Night Satisfaction

Blurb:  Former physical therapist and reluctant loner Ian Bowen has spent the three years since his grandfather’s death searching for a man to inspire him to park his Harley for a while—without much hope of finding him. On a whim, he shows up for a Toy Run and meets Ed Gonzalez, another loner with a pile of toys lashed to his bike. A few beers at the end-of-the-run party turn into an invite to Ed’s for homebrew. But instead of a night of fun, the unseasonable cold renders Ed immobile with pain. When he tells Ian he just needs meds, Ian does one of the things he does best—he massages Ed’s pain away, allowing him a rare restful night’s sleep and creating intimacy neither wants to lose. Ian thinks two men have to follow certain rules to be together, but Ed’s prepared to show him how wrong he is.

Beans:  What a creative story! It had me from the first page to the last. I love stories that are more than just about sex but also about  relationships. These two men thought they were getting one thing and ended up with something amazing. Love. It was fantastic.

Nina:  Sexy, sweet and complicated, I really wanted more of these men.  Great writing and compelling characters. It was different and interesting.
