Heartwarming Advent Calendar Novellas Bundle 5

When the chance came to review the novellas for the Heartwarming Advent Calendar they all looked so good that we decided to do our Nina and Beans joint reviews thing and talk about them all.  Some are longer and those get their own review space.  Some are shorter and those we are putting together into small bundles.   So bundle up, snuggle down, sip that eggnog and let’s find something great to read.

Up All Night Satisfaction

Blurb:  Constable Mark Cordwell and Sergeant Bryn Powell deliver post, transport the children to school, and make sure the older inhabitants are safe in their quiet farming village deep in the Welsh countryside. It’s their first holiday together since Mark transferred from England, and Bryn and his neighbors are determined to let Mark know he’s welcome, with little traditions that mark the season. As Christmas and the Plygain service approach, Bryn has one more gift up his sleeve—and he knows it’s the one that will make their holidays perfect.

Reviews:

Beans:  I was done for with this book! A sweet novella on love. There is not a single moment of angst only a beautiful story of love and family. This book was like a breath of fresh air. A delightful read. The men are strong and secure and have made a life in a small town, and even more special is the town has made them part of it.

Nina:  A great read. A small Welsh Town and all of the little moments that go into making a happy holiday.  I liked these guys and their village so much, they were sweet, cute and funny.  The depth of their love and connection to each other and the people in their community.  That Mark left all he knew to be with Bryn, how much Bryn enjoyed taking care of Mark and the home they made together. Really liked this one.

Blurb:  Kris Hamilton escaped the rat race in LA to live his dream of owning an art studio and making snow globes in a Christmas-themed town in northern Minnesota. But life in a tiny town isn’t as peaceful as advertised, and being treated like an outsider is making Kris’s Tourette’s flare up. When he inadvertently offends Tyr Tollefson—a beautiful blond giant of a man—Kris is ready to chuck it all. But he strikes up an unlikely friendship with Tyr’s cousin Bun, who shows them the magic of Christmas and gives them both a lesson in love and acceptance.

Reviews:

Beans:  I didn’t care for this story. I had to read it twice because I felt lost. I pieced bits together to get a whole story. There was a lack of connectedness between the characters for me. Hate to love in an instant, unanswered questions about major characters and just a confusing time line.

I felt it had the potential to be super, but fell short.

Nina:  There was so much that I loved about this story.  Family, loyalty, artistry, Christmas magic and love.

There is more to this story that needs to be told.  We cannot be done with these men and their family and the changes that they will bring to their little Christmas town.

Loved this one!

Reviews:

Beans:   A devastatingly beautiful love story. It’s short but very powerful. Every word is thought out in this novella. Jackson will break your heart with his loneliness and pain. He has lost hope, and knows he has lost the love of his life. Oh! But Ryan has more than enough hope and determination for both of them. A stunning story.

Nina:  A love story of sacrifice and dedication.  Do you love each other enough to let go and fly, taking the chance that you won’t come together again, trusting that your love is strong enough to endure?  I really liked these beautiful young men.  They deserved to find their happy ending.
