Minnesota Christmas, Book 1
Stylist Frankie Blackburn never meant to go to Logan, Minnesota, but his malfunctioning GPS decided otherwise, and a record-breaking snowfall ensures he won’t be heading back to Minneapolis anytime soon. Being rescued by three sexy lumberjacks is fine as a fantasy, but in reality the biggest of the bears is awfully cranky and seems ready to gobble Frankie right up.
Marcus Gardner wasn’t always a lumberjack. Once a high-powered Minneapolis lawyer, he’s burned out and back home in Logan to lick his wounds, not play with a sassy city twink who might as well have stepped directly out of his past.
As the north winds blow and guards come down, Frankie and Marcus find they have a lot more in common than they don’t. Making a relationship last beyond a snowstorm could prove impossible when one man won’t live in the country and the other won’t return to the city. Yet the longer it snows, the deeper they fall in love, and all they want for Christmas is each other.
Warning: Contains power outages, excessive snowfall, and incredibly sexy bears.
Review: I love Heidi’s books and the plot for Let It Snow is something so foreign to me I was easily engrossed in the actions. As a Florida girl the only snow I’ve ever seen was a quarter inch on a trip to D.C. 10 years ago. My understanding of snow storms and their effects are based only on movies, which means I have an intense fear of ever being caught in a blizzard! So when Frankie, the big city hairdresser, crashes his car in the middle of a huge storm I was actually very anxious, all the films with scenes like that ended poorly!
Of course Frankie searches for shelter and stumbles upon the house with the three bears, sexy and human bears! Waiting out the storm means staying days in the company of three burly lumberjacks, and sharing a bed with Marcus, the sexiest of them all. While the storm rages on Frankie and Marcus decide to enjoy their time together, knowing Frankie will leave Marcus’ small town when the snow settles.
During their time together feelings develop, despite Frankie’s intense fear of small towns and Marcus’ past heartbreak. Can they find common ground and make their snowed in interlude into more?
I read this thinking it would be a light holiday story but it is so much more than that! Really this is a winter story, perfect for the whole season, and even after the snow melts. A wonderful book filled with humor, heat, and snow. I look forward to reading the upcoming books from this series. Go ahead, make some cocoa and curl up with this one throughout the year.
