Zack met his best friend, Noah, at Harper Lake when they were five years old. Summer after summer, his feelings grew, but he assumed Noah didn’t feel the same. But one night when they were seventeen, Zack kissed Noah… and Noah kissed him back. Zack was sure he did. But the next morning, Noah put an end to their friendship and walked away, leaving Zack with a broken heart.
A year has passed, and Zack goes back to the lake—where every leaf, rock, and turn in the road remind him of the biggest mistake he ever made. He hates thinking about what he lost, and more than anything he wants his best friend back. He figures it’ll be the longest summer ever. But then Noah shows up out of the blue, apologetic and more gorgeous than ever. Noah is sweet and attentive, and Zack can almost believe nothing had ever gone wrong. But there’s something different about his old friend, something not quite right. Zack doesn’t want to ruin the fragile new bond between them, but he has to know… What secret is Noah hiding?

Review: Hot vampire lust is true love, destined to last forever. Noah and Zach have been friends since childhood, their only fears appear to be that of losing each other. Their emotions and connections to one another run so deep that they almost become one person within two bodies.
Zach is a normal teenager who rolls his eyes at his parents, he is dramatic and moody wanting to be doing his own thing. Zach cannot believe he has agreed to go back to the family’s usual summer retreat, especially after what happened at the end of last summer that left him heartbroken! This is the last place he wanted to be, with so many reminders of Noah, the one he thought he would love forever.
“He walked away then, ending everything we’d had and whatever had blossomed the night before with a few words that felt like shards of glass ripping through into my insides.”
Noah waits in the hope that Zach will return and give him another chance. Although Noah fears his friend will not reciprocate his feelings, and there is the added risk that a relationship with him could put Zach in danger. Noah can not hide his love and need for Zach, will he accept Noah’s explanation and will Noah be able to protect Zach if he does?
Noah reveals the truth behind the breaking off of their friendship. Zack is in disbelief and thinks that Noah is just concocting some outrageous story. Zack considers his feelings for Noah, are they strong enough for him to give Noah a chance to prove himself.
When Noah finds out the truth behind what happened the night he was turned, he is driven more than ever to get revenge and put an end to those who changed his life. Noah takes chances that could endanger them all. Zach demonstrates his love for Noah over and over, refusing to leave Noah’s side in spite of the dangers.
“Noah Parker I will love you until the very last breath”
Then he took my hand and led me to our bedroom and the bed where we’d first tasted each other’s dreams and desires.
Plenty of love mush throughout. Noah and Zach are ravenous for each other; there is no denying the heat between them. A good story, I enjoyed the read although I do feel that this book is more suited to young adults.
