Quad Shot of Love

Blurb: Jack Colton dedicated his life to two things, the law and the love of a good man named Martin. When Martin dies Jack goes into mourning so deeply that he starts to see his late husband everywhere. Martin tells Jack that he needs to move on and find another relationship but Jack is holding on too hard to his past and his job to see love when it speeds through the small sleepy town he watches over.
Rebel Marino lives up to his name. He fights hard not only with his fists but to keep from letting anyone get close. Rebel inherits a home and business from his favorite aunt, whom he sees even though she recently passed away. She tries to convince him that the tall handsome sheriff is worth a leap of faith.

Together they start to discover what it means to move on, to trust, and push the boundaries of not only their interest in BDSM but of love itself but will a third man who is secretly in love with Jack come between them and rip them apart before their love can fully bloom?

Review: I enjoyed this book a tremendous amount. It was more than just a new love story, more than a BDSM book, more than just a loss-comfort book. It had my attention throughout because it felt new.

Jack is sheriff of a small town. He is a friend to the community from the morning coffees to the way he interacts with the people in his town. A man of order and control he lives the best he can. The best he can under the grief of losing his husband to cancer. What makes this very interesting is that his late husband haunts him. Talks to him. Comforts him. Tries to help him heal.

Rebel isn’t in town for long. He just wants to get his Aunt’s house sold and move on. He has never fit in, never been loved except by his Aunt. His grief over her loss is beautifully written. He doesn’t live anywhere. He feels he doesn’t belong. Then…his Aunt haunts him as well.

I’m not one for ghost stories and this isn’t one. It does add an extra element that makes it a fun read.

Jack and Rebel meet under less than ideal circumstances, lights and sirens. They are drawn together almost instantly. The need in Jack for control and to live as a Dom is called out by Rebels instinctual submissive instincts. The sexual tension and training is fantastic. The author writes the scenes to feel real and beautiful. Not to mention melting hot.

The depth comes from the secondary characters as well. The people of the community, the antagonist, the sort-of-deputy are all wonderfully complex and give Jack and Rebel the space to be something with each other.

A great read with more to it than you thought at first glance. I don’t know what I was expecting picking this up, but I was captivated by the characters, the interesting quirks, the BDSM elements, and the flow of the book. I will be keeping a sharp eye out for this author again. This story is definitely worth your time to pick up.
