Miki St. John’s life has been turned upside down, but it’s the best thing that’s ever happened to him.
His best friend, Damien Mitchell, is back from the dead. He has a dog named Dude. And more importantly, he and his lover, SFPD Inspector Kane Morgan, now share Miki’s converted warehouse.
For the first time ever, Miki’s living a happy and normal-ish life, but when Valentine’s Day rolls around, Miki realizes he knows next to nothing about being domestic or domesticated. Nothing about the traditional lover’s holiday makes sense to him, but Miki wants to give Kane a Valentine’s Day the man will never forget.
Can he pull off a day of wine and roses? Or will his screwed-up childhood come back and bite Miki in the ass?
Review: What a delightful snapshot of the lives and love of one of my favorite families.
We get to check in with our boys Miki & Kane and Damien & Sionn and see how the lives they’ve built together are flourishing and watch them celebrate their love together (as couples) on Valentine’s Day. Miki is afraid that what he’s picked out for gifts for Kane won’t be good enough and he’ll let his man down. Everyone keeps trying to convince him that Kane will love whatever he gives him because it’s from Miki, cause it’s a way of saying “I love you” with intent and planning.
“Ah, Miki boy,” Donal’s eyes – so much like Kane’s – softened perceptibly. “Yer as much mine as any of those that I’ve hade with m’bride. I thought you knew that.”
I loved the bonding moments with Donal. I madly, deeply love that man and the father he is to all his boys. There isn’t a bigger, more protective, or loving heart out there. He accepts them just the way they are and helps them see the best in themselves every time.
“Some day, Miki boy, yer going to know how much yer loved. Ye’ll not question it any more, and I can’t wait for that day.” Donal tightened his arms, then rubbed at Miki back.
This is a lighter, happier and mushier Sinners story and I loved every moment. Thanks, Rhys, for giving us some happy feels with our beautiful boys.
“I don’t know when you’re going to find this. It could be tomorrow. Shit, it could be years from now. When doesn’t matter because how I feel about you isn’t going to change.
I love you, Mick.
Actually, that’s a lie. It is going to change.
I’m going to love you more. Every damned second of every blessed day, I’m going to love you more.
So yeah, it really doesn’t matter when you find this note because you and I?
We’re going to last forever.”
