Our day started out bright and early with breakfast thanks to Riptide books…need coffee. Then Nina and Beans went to the newbie meet and greet. Jay from Joyfully Jay gave us the 411 on everything that is going on at GRL.
We met lots of people and introduced ourselves and gave the name of the first gay romance we read. Beans was T.A. Chase and Cardeno C. Nina could remember stalking the booksellers for Cardeno C when CC was first published. Connie started with Slash Fan Fiction and then converted to the M/M. Her first was Something Like Summer by Jay Bell .
We wandered the halls and lounges meeting authors and finding new friends. We delved into the Supporting Authors signing and entered the great and amazing SWAG room!!
Then we split up for author readings, author Q&A’s and Story Spotlight Panels.
Connie went to the reading with Heidi Cullinan and Edmond Manning. Heidi read from Lonely Hearts, Love Lessons Book 3 and Edmond Manning read an excerpt from King Mai where the Butterfly king made an appearance.
Nina and Beans headed to the Storyboard Spotlight on Shifters with Mary Calmes, Poppy Dennison, Lynn Lorenz. We learned about how essential rules are to writing shifters, and how they they both set and restrict the author.
Then there was another reading and Stroy spotlight with Amy Lane, Deanna Wadsworth and Jett Michaels. We played “Bad Libs” and learned about world building.
After that we dolled up and headed towards the MLR Press Opening Night Reception.
They announced that GRL will be in (drum roll please) San Diego! We had a couple drinks, mingled, and ate funny finger food.
Later tonight there will be dancing and we will post pics of Connie and Nina going crazy on the dance floor.
