Review:

Beans: So you want to ease into Amy Lane writing? You want a little tears but not the whole box of tissue, it is cold and flu season after all you need to budget. Maybe laugh some? Sigh? Dream? Well then, picking up this book was the perfect choice!

Zach is solid, put together, successful, and desperately lonely. My heart broke for him. His assistant was amazing, she gave him the love and acceptance he needed to step forward, even slowly, and get him to break out of his shell. I think what broke my heart the most was how Zach felt just seeing Sean once in a while in an elevator for a minute, was enough for him. He never thought he would be able to have more.

Sean is full of life and joy, but also understands stress. He is wonderful because he lives in chaos but is overflowing with love, creativity, and compassion. The beautiful way he enfolded Zach into his life was truly breathtaking.

I loved this story. Every word was perfectly placed, each character developed and integrated beautifully. Amy Lane has done it again. Beautiful.

Nina: I love Amy Lane’s writing. I have yet to find a book of hers that I didn’t enjoy, she is a master of angst and love in all of its many forms. Her stories make me think and leave me aching in the best way possible. I adore her holiday stories because they are just a little softer and easier. All that I love with a touch less angst and a faster happy ending.

Zach was awesome. There was so much broken and lost in his heart when he takes that fated elevator ride. He was sleepwalking through his life because he had no reason to hope for a better one, but as soon as he found Sean he began to make changes and he followed through. He saw in Sean more than, I think, most of the world did. He made his own happy ending and he became the man that he wanted to be. I loved him.

Sean was an adorable, sweet goofball. He takes things he loves like learning, dressup, history, acting, fun, children and he uses them to help his students learn. He doesn’t care about the money or the prestige of Zach’s family, all he cares about is this beautiful, special man that he looks forward to seeing in the elevator.

A fantastic story about taking chances and being the person you want to be, without fear or shame. Of being your own hero and falling in love and making new friends. I loved every moment with these beautiful people and it was great seeing some old friends from other books.
