Review: As I was reading this book I was already thinking and plotting my review. The one word that kept coming to my mind was intense.

The book as a whole is moving, it takes you into Aiden’s and Max’s minds.

Every emotion, feeling, and thought is expressed and it will run you over like a truck, in a good way of course.

There is no stepping aside and analyzing this book from a sideways point of you, because you are so immersed in what the main characters are experiencing, that you will be right there with them.

Aiden is a very interesting character. His main conflict is about balance. How to balance his need to submit to Max, without losing himself in that submission. This is his first attempt to be a sub, he is still unsure, testing the waters. And he trusts Max completely, to be the guide, the Dom and the partner that he needs on this journey.

What we see from Max’s POV is the opposite but, in a way it is exactly the same.

The opposite because Max is a very experienced Dom, he is familiar with the ins and outs of the lifestyle. He was able to recognize Aiden’s submissive side from the first date. But he is so lost in the matters of love, in that balance between a lovers relationship and a D/s relationship.

Just as lost as Aiden is within the lifestyle, Max is lost in the matters of the heart.

There is nothing more beautiful that seeing this type of alpha males, get to their knees in love with the beautiful, caring sub.

They come to a routine, yes. But it needs adjusting, their needs colliding and overlapping.
Aiden’s questions about his role in the relationship are all valid and present Max’s dominant personality with a challenge.

Finding love for these two is not easy, and not because they can’t feel it. It’s mostly because they can’t recognize it. And it will surprise them once they see that what the “want” is not exactly what they “need”.

They are both so invested in the D/s side of their relationship, that love literally takes over them. Max is pushing, molding Aiden in the lifestyle, with one specific kink in mind, one Aiden was brave enough to disclose. Watching Aiden grow into that man, the one willing to explore this side of him, was a treat to read.

Not many story lines have to power to shock me or surprise me, with the amount of books I read, but this one was completely new to me kink. I enjoyed every scene they had together, every intimate interaction.

Is not a secret that I am a huge fan of SJD, she has this talent to mix the hottest sex, the kinkiest sex, with the most amazing love making scene all in one.

She also writes characters that are completely tridimensional, I love the dialogues, the depth in those conversations.

I know there is more coming out in the Guards of Folsom universe and I can’t wait to read it.
