THE MEN OF LONDON
From Soho to Norwich, there’s no escaping love.
A TASTE OF FOREVER
An award-winning chef with his own restaurant and an inexhaustible passion, Gideon Kent once had everything. Then came tragedy. It stole more than Gideon’s home. He hasn’t cooked since.
Until Eddie Tripp. Fun-loving and vivacious, the Norfolk redhead’s a real up-and-comer in Gideon’s kitchen—and other places. Slim where Gideon’s broad, easy-going where Gideon is growly, he and Gideon seem polar opposites, and yet Eddie conjures flavors that would tempt anyone with a taste for perfection. The sauce of love is already simmering, and this pair is about to dine on the most delicious dish they’ve ever prepared. Because Eddie’s been Gideon’s missing ingredient all along.
Review: A sweet romance with hints of intrigue and some dark edges. This is the first book in the Men of London series and it lays the groundwork well for the next stories. I know I’m looking forward to reading the next books in the series.
Gideon is hurting and scarred from a terrible accident that took his friend and his sense of smell and taste and left him with nightmares and panic attacks. A chef who cannot smell or taste is useless, and even potentially dangerous, in the kitchen and all that the once renowned chef can do is run the restaurant that he used to cook in.
Gideon is angry and grumpy, growling at anyone who comes near. Even the spitfire sprite who has taken his kitchen, and Gideon’s libido, by storm. Now Gideon’s nightmares share space with erotic dreams of pouty lips and bubble butts on a certain freckled pixie who doesn’t know better than to stay away from growly grumps.
Eddie is a sweetheart. He’s always willing to help out and he takes care of his friends. He has a huge crush on Gideon and no clue why his boss is so angry with him all the time. He’s heard the rumors and he feels bad for Gideon’s loss, but what does that have to do with him?
Romance in the workplace can lead to disaster and both men are trying to avoid the complications of acting on their mutual attraction. But as soon as Gideon stops growling and the men give into their lust it’s a mad race towards the bedroom and an emotional connection neither was prepared for.
While there is some serious heat between the men there is also a nice balance of the rest of their lives in the book as well. We see their friendships and some family interactions. We see them support each other and begin to build a life together.
We get to know Eddie’s housemates and start to want their stories as well. What’s going on with Taylor and his “powers?” and is he going to be okay? I want to know his history and more about how it all works. Will sweet Leslie find the love and support he’s searching for or will he always be taking care of everyone else with no one who puts him first? And what is the story behind Taylor and Leslie’s intense, but not romantic dynamic? We want more!
A very enjoyable beginning to a series I am looking forward to spending more time with the sexy Men of London.
